Any rock’n roll freak worth his/her vinyl knows that David Byron is lead singer for Uriah Heep, they who brought harmony to heavy metal. Or, “the Beach Boys of heavy metal rock” as one young music expert said during his daily fit of delerium. Byron not only sings like a son of a bitch (he and Elton John used to make demo records together in England before either one had got together with
present writing and musical partners) but also writes tunes. For Uriah Heep, as an example, he has come up with such - stalwarts as ‘Bird Of Prey, ‘Gypsy’ and ‘Sweet Lorraine’ (detec aayrem side caetony Heepster Mick Box who along with Heep drummer Lee Kerslake co-wrote many ofthe tunes on this album with David).
Now how did a busy, debonair, young, famous, successfuls world-arent. suave, rock’n roller get around to doing a solo album? “I made the album for the sheer fun of it while the band had some time off,” he recently told Circus magazine. “Solo albums are exercises of fun because recording Heep is a very - serious business and with a solo album you can afford to just do it for the pure enjoyment.” The best rock’n roll you can find is the stuff done for the fun of it. Now open up the bloody album and listen to the thing instead
of reading this crap.
