I think my first meeting with Ken was some five years ago;
and now we find ourselves working in the same unit - URIAH HEEP.
Kens first solo venture is based on an overflow of material
that he had expressed a desire to record.
After working on this and many other projects with Ken,
I find in him a great versatility as a writer-musician, a
capability of honest sincerity working in many different moods.
I hope this album gives you the same listening pleasure as it
did myself and all those who worked on it.

Первый сольный альбом Хенсли выпустив в 1973 году при участии колег
Гэри Тэйна и Ли Керслейка альбом Proud Words On A Dusty Shelf.
В аннотации, написанной Хенсли и размещённой на обложке пластинки,
говорится о том, что этот диск представляет собой сборник материала,
который не вошёл в Demons And Wizards и The Magician’s Birthday.
Но кроме этого материала, на альбоме присутствует также ранее
опубликованная песня «Rain» в своей оригинальной аранжировке — той,
которая была забракована остальными участниками Uriah Heep:
музыканты потребовали сделать концовку песни мягкой и спокойной,
изменив тем самым общий настрой произведения. Включив «Rain» в
сольный альбом, Хенсли таким образом спас свою идею песни.
Альбом "Proud Words On A Dusty Shelf" один из самых классных
альбомов Хенсли
