2001 was the year that we incorporated more electric guitar into the songs alongside more organic instruments. We began playing hurdy gurdies, shawms and harps ourselves instead of hiring outside musicians to come in and do sessions on our songs to get those sounds. By now we had been a touring band for a few years, we were visiting different countries and being influenced by the regional folk melodies and legends that would become songs based on what we were experiencing on the road, The title Fires At Midnight came from what we had seen while leaving one of our shows in the dead of night and traveling to the next country, the next stage, and being mystified by the bonfires on the hillsides in Czechoslovakia, Waking up in castles and feeling the ghosts all around us, their stories haunted our souls until they became songs for us to share with you all. Instead of dreaming the inspirations, we were living it... and loving cach moment. These songs became Fires At Midnight.

Fires at Midnight — третий студийный альбом группы Blackmore's Night. Официально выпущен 10 июля 2001 года на лейбле Steamhammer SPV.

Третий альбом группы получился тяжелее своих предшественников. Ричи Блэкмор: «Когда после выпуска первого диска мы начали гастролировать, оказалось, что люди ждут от нас такого „тяжёлого“ материала. Поэтому мы решили на „Fires At Midnight“ поместить больше композиций, сыгранных в электрике, включающих хард-роковые соло. Раньше мне казалось, что такие вещи Blackmore’s Night не подходят. Но чем дольше мы играем, тем с большей свободой подходим к аранжировкам.»

Половина выручки с продаж сингла «Home Again» была направлена жертвам наводнения в Германии 2002 года.
