Why call this album "Sunstroke"?

Because all the tracks on this LP come from the catalogue of the Sun label of Memphis, Tennessee and because this album can knock you out just as easily as Sun stroke.

As I write this (July 66) a great revival of interest in early Rock and Roll is under way as more and more people realise the importance of this kind of music as oneof the foundationsof almost all our present day "Pop" scene. Now without a doubt the Sun label is the most import and rock label there has ever been and enthusiasts are paying fantastic prices fororiginal Sun discs. Many great rock artists started with Sun - Elvis, Roy Orbison and Johnny Cash for example, but it is fair to say that no one stands higher in the estimation of most rock fans than Jerry Lee Lewis, the Prince of Rock and here on this LP you can hear six of the marvellous sides he cut in the Sun studios at the time of his greatest hits. They are real vintage Lewis and no rock enthusiast can afford to be without them, in fact one of these tracks "I'm Feeling Sorry" is so rare that copies of the original 45 exchange hands for more than the total cost of this album.

The other great Sun artist-on this album is Carl Perkins and there is no doubt in my mind that if he hadn't been involved in a serious car crash just as his career was getting under way, his name would have been up there amongst the leaders from the start, but asit was, when the mighty wave of Rock and Roll broke over the delighted heads of the teenagers of America, he achieved aunique record by having his greatest masterpiece "Blue Suede Shoes" at the No.| spot in three different Billboard Charts at the same time. When Carl toured Britain in 1964 he was overcome by the warmth of his reception ashe had no idea how many devoted fans he had in this country and | am sure that each and every one of them will treasure the six tracks on this LP.

To sum up thenn, everyone with the slightest interest in Country Music or Rock and Rooll will find thisalbum an absolute must for their collection, so buy it «and "enjoy yourself".
